Fort De Soto Campground
Our Trip to Fort De Soto
March 11 2017
Overnight camp trip to Fort De Soto Park.
We took a short trip to Fort De Soto as we were only able to book for one day. This place is beautiful with a lot to do. There is an old fort to explore, a dog beach and park, bike trails, fishing, hiking, and good times to be had. If you plan to go camping here you will need to book in advance as the sites do fill up quickly. Camp sites are around $40 a night. You can visit for $5.00 per vehicle if you just want to explore the area. Although the campground is a comercial campground with a lot of people there are trees separating the campsites from one another offering decent privacy. Overall the trip was great even though it was short. This will defiantly be on our list too return when we can book for a few days in the area that allows dogs.
The fort has old guns and rooms to explore. There is one room with lots of information on the fort and who was involved in its construction. This is all overlooking some beautiful beaches.
The drive over from Kissimmee we decided to take the sceeinic route which double the drive time but allowed us to travel though manny small towns and see some of the countryside.
